Therapeutic Massage: A Treatment Tailored to You

Massage can support your body in many ways, from easing tension and pain to helping you slow down and feel more at ease.

Every body is different, and every session is shaped around what your body needs on the day.

Whether you’re looking to release long-held tension, ease chronic pain, improve mobility, recover from injury, or simply slow down and unwind, your treatment is fully personalised.

Some areas may need deeper, more focused work, while others benefit from gentler, calming touch. There is no one-size-fits-all approach here.

My work blends therapeutic massage techniques in a way that supports both physical relief and overall balance. The aim is to help your body settle, reset, and respond, not to force it.

Most clients come to me for pain relief, recovery, or ongoing tension, and appreciate that sessions are adapted as their body responds.

What to Expect During Your Session

We’ll begin with a short check-in to understand how you’re feeling and what you’d like from the session. Depending on your needs, your treatment may include a combination of:

Relaxation techniques to help calm the nervous system and reduce stress

Deep tissue work to release chronic tension

Sports massage elements to improve mobility, circulation, and muscle recovery

Trigger point therapy and myofascial release for pain relief and flexibility

Stretching and movement-based techniques to enhance range of motion

Communication is encouraged throughout. You’re welcome to let me know what feels right, what doesn’t, or if anything needs adjusting. The session is guided by your body’s response, not a fixed routine.

Sound healing as part of your treatment

For clients who would like it, gentle sound can be woven into the massage to support deeper relaxation and nervous system settling.

This may include instruments such as singing bowls, koshi chimes, an ocean drum, or gentle drumming. Sound is used subtly and intentionally, always in support of the hands-on work, never instead of it. Some people find it helps them drop into the session more deeply, slow their breath, and feel more grounded in their body.

Sound healing is always optional and can be discussed on the day.

This treatment is perfect for those who:

Experience muscle tightness, stiffness, or ongoing pain

Want a balance of therapeutic and calming work

Need support with injury recovery or postural issues

Feel stressed, overwhelmed, or run down

Want to care for your body in a consistent, supportive way

Whether you prefer a deeply therapeutic session or a gentler, more nurturing experience, the focus is always on what supports your body best in that moment.

A grounded approach to feeling better

Your body works hard for you every day. Massage is a way to support it, listen to it, and give it time to reset.

If you’re unsure what you need, that’s okay. We’ll work it out together.

There are certain contraindications or situations where massage should not be performed.

These contraindications may include:

Inflammatory conditions: If you have an acute inflammatory condition such as a fever, swollen glands, or an active infection, massage may be contraindicated as it can spread the infection or exacerbate the inflammation.

Open wounds or skin conditions: If you have open wounds, rashes, burns, or any skin condition that is contagious or inflamed, massage should be avoided as it can further irritate or infect the affected area.

Blood clots: If you have a blood clot or are at risk of developing one, massage may not be safe as it can dislodge the clot and cause serious complications.

Cardiovascular conditions: If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, or any other cardiovascular condition, massage may need to be modified or avoided altogether.

Cancer: For individuals with cancer, I recommend seeking the services of a massage therapist who specializes in oncology massage. They possess the knowledge and training necessary to provide safe and effective treatments tailored to the unique needs of individuals undergoing cancer treatment.

Pregnancy: Similarly, for pregnant clients, I encourage seeking the expertise of a massage therapist who specializes in prenatal massage. They possess the specialized training and experience to address the specific concerns and considerations associated with pregnancy.

Osteoporosis: If you have osteoporosis, certain massage techniques may be contraindicated as they can cause fractures or other complications.

Heart Conditions: Individuals with heart conditions, pacemakers, or other implanted medical devices should consult with their healthcare provider before participating in sound healing sessions, as certain frequencies may interfere with these devices.

Seizure Disorders: People with epilepsy or other seizure disorders should proceed with caution, as certain sound frequencies or intense vibrations may trigger seizures.

Mental Health Conditions: Individuals with severe mental health conditions such as psychosis or schizophrenia may find certain sound frequencies or experiences overwhelming or triggering. It’s important to consider the individual’s mental health history and consult with a mental health professional if necessary.

Recent Surgeries or Injuries: Sound healing involving intense vibrations may not be suitable for individuals recovering from recent surgeries or injuries, as it could potentially disrupt the healing process or cause discomfort.

Before your session, we’ll take time to talk through any medical conditions or concerns so the treatment can be planned safely and appropriately for you. If needed, I’ll adjust the techniques or approach to support your comfort and well-being.
